Oh boy the Buzz Off was a good time! We started the evening at the sportsplex right at 6pm. Game 1 was an intense match between Barkley and Bakerview. Since Barkley raised the most money (over $1,400!!), they had the competitive advantage extra player during the second half, but even with the extra player, Barkely couldn't get the W. After a fierce 20 minute competition, Bakerview beat out Barkley with a final score of 4 to 3. That win put Bakerview on the fast track to first place.

The second game was a lively match between Sehome and Downtown. Wearing the bright yellow jerseys, Sehome played their hearts out, but couldn't overcome the power of the downtown dominators. This second game, set the scene for our championship game between Downtown and Bakerview.

The championship game was truly a battle. The ringers on the Bakerview team had some fancy footwork and played the ball well while Downtown tried to dominate using sheer brute force. When it was all said and done, Bakerview left with the trophy but also heated up a huge rivalry that will last until next years re-match.

Overall, the Buzz Off raised over $5,200 to be split between the 4 charities. The charities that benefited are:
  • 1st Place - Bakerview Buzz - Whatcom Hospice
  • 2nd Place -Downtown - Mother Baby Center
  • 3rd Place - Sehome - American Cancer Society
  • 4th Place - Barkley - Wheelchair Warehouse
